About Toya D. Everett
Toya has a unique background encompassing corporate, small business, and non-profit experiences, which has allowed her to become effective at achieving impactful results within the three sectors.
Toya has over 20 years of experience working in the industries of insurance, corporate real estate, and commercial construction. She has worked and serviced clientele in the public and private sectors, to include Fortune 100 and 500 corporations. Toya's experience includes risk management (operational, contractual and vendor risk), change management, operations management, and program management. Toya is sought after for her strong business acumen and forward-thinking approach towards organizational growth and transformation.
Toya has developed successful, strategic programs, as well as curated and managed seminars, workshops, and symposiums targeting professionals at all career levels and business owners in the various stages of the business lifecycle. Not only is Toya sought after for business consulting, designing and scaling programs, but she is sought after for her experience in presenting and facilitating workshops, as well as moderating and contributing to panel discussions. Toya has served on several planning, host and steering committees for programs and initiatives supporting the arts, early childhood education, business growth and development, and women and minorities in leadership.
Toya comes from a family of successful, small business owners and started working in her father's residential construction company at a very young age. She was taught the the importance of developing a strong business acumen, as well as building and maintaining key business relationships. Toya saw and understood the the impact minority and small business enterprises have on communities. Toya serves in a key leadership role in D.A. Everett Construction Group, a family-owned, commercial GC and construction management firm, headquartered in Charlotte, NC, where she leads strategy and social responsibility.
Toya was taught the importance of and developed a passion for servant leader while serving her community along side her mother at a very young age. Toya served as the President of the Charlotte Chapter of the National Black MBA Association and, prior to that, she served as the Director of Programming. Under her leadership the Chapter experienced historical growth in revenue, membership, corporate sponsorship, and strategic partnerships. Also, under her leadership the Chapter was awarded several National NBMBAA awards for its impactful programming and was recognized as a Model Chapter as a result of its growth and strong fiscal management.
Toya also served on the board of The Charlotte Post Foundation, the advisory board for Johnson C. Smith University’s Business Administration and Economic Department, an Historically Black College & University (HBCU), and on the Executive Advisory Board for Career Mastered Magazine and advisory board of Career Mastered Leadership in Action Awards. She has served on several steering committees for high profile events hosted in the Charlotte-area focused on small business development such as the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Business and Leadership Symposium and Black Enterprise Entrepreneurs Summit.
Toya has been recognized and received awards for her contributions in the City of Charlotte. In the Corporate sector, she has been recognized for her leadership and developing high performing teams, as well as her approach to driving outcomes and delivering excellence.
Toya earned her B.A. in Communications from North Carolina State University, Raleigh, NC., and her Masters in Business Administration from Queens University – McColl School of Business, Charlotte, NC.
